"Awful Customer Service"
Lockport, IL
January 27, 2012
Following the bankruptcy of our wedding venue, Montefiori in Lemont, Illinois, my fiancé and I were faced with the loss of our entire deposit ($10,000) along with all payments made on other venues. When we approached those service providers (Sounds Abound and Gardeenia Floral Design Studio to name a couple), all were very forgiving and provided us a 100% refund of our deposit given the circumstances BESIDES Fred Fox Photography. Mr. Ed Fox, the owner of Fred Fox Photography, said it was OUR fault that we had paid in full ($1,857) for our photography and videography services when their deposit protocol is only to hold $500 initially. The following is a breakdown of our communications with Mr. Ed Fox, proving to be a story of horrible customer service in a customer service driven industry: 12/08/2011 Called Fred Fox in Orland Park and were told there were absolutely no refund policies unless there was a death in the family, a military reason or an extreme circumstance. Followed up with a call to the Northbrook office and asked to speak to the person in charge; directed to Mr. Ed Fox. He said he would speak to his partners and try to come up with a resolution, but they were out of town until the 14th. 12/16/2011 Called Mr. Ed Fox after not receiving a call on the 14th. He read a letter he had written to be sent to me via; in it, he claimed sympathy and a refund of $752 of our $1852 we had paid. I inquired about the additional $600 of the $1100 and Mr. Ed Fox claimed that he had to keep that for reserving the photographer, although the $500 deposit was only required at contract signing. Mr. Ed Fox wasn’t aware that two weeks prior we had changed our wedding date without photographer issues. Mr. Ed Fox claimed, "It is hard to fill Friday weddings in the month of June and that our photographer will be upset." After a 20 minutes discussion, I hung up the phone and informed my fiancé his resolution. She went on to write a negative review on Fred Fox Photography Facebook wall and The Knot and then immediately informed me. I told her to take it down immediately and she did within 15 minutes of posting. 12/19/2011 Mr. Ed Fox called me to explain that he was upset about the review and I had told him it was down and it wouldn’t happen again. We then discussed the $600 difference discussed on the 16th and I explained to him how we had inquired about changing the date prior to our cancelation – making his justification senseless. Mr. Ed Fox then decided to split it with me and return $1,057 by USPS between the Christmas and New Year’s holiday season. 12/22/2011 Mr. Ed Fox called to inform me that the negative posts were still up, but he was incorrect. I spoke with Terry who had informed Mr. Ed Fox that the post were up, but we determined only on their vendor website, not open to the public. Terry stated he would explain the misunderstanding to Mr. Ed Fox. 01/09/2012 Called Mr. Ed Fox to inquire about the check as we hadn’t received it following New Year’s, but no answer. 01/09/2012 Spoke with Mr. Ed Fox and he claimed he had to assess the damage that was done from the negative post (that didn’t exist for more than 15 minutes to the public), because he “had to turn away business due to it.” I explained my discussion with Terry on the 22nd. Mr. Ed Fox put me on hold for 20 seconds and said, "Terry said there was damage done." I asked to speak with Terry and Mr. Ed Fox’s direct response was that he just left the office less than a minute after “speaking with him” CONCLUSION We did not receive any of the money promised by Mr. Ed Fox. We never asked $500 deposit back because we understood it was non-refundable – we only requested ANY OF the additional $1,357. Mr. Ed Fox never intended to return anything and we are now out the full $1,857 because he refuses communication with us. When choosing a wedding vendor, please take this into consideration.

I truly don't know where to begin. After searching for numerous photographers on the internet, we decided to use Fred Fox Photography because of the beautiful photos they featured on their website. WRONG! We purchased the advertised special of $695 for an all-day photographer. I should have know better right there! Although the photographer had a great sense of humor, he was no more qualified to take wedding photos than my 7 year old grandson. He took no posed photos, and 99% of the photos were taken with him standing so far away from the bride and groom that it looked like they were 2 blocks away. Very few close up photos. Instead of having numerous photos of the bride and groom together, he chose to have dozens of them standing by themselves without taking any effort to pose them. The angle of the photos during the wedding ceremony was pathetic. The best photo of all was a close-up of the wedding cake. Everything else sucked. Stay FAR AWAY from this guy. They ruined the day, a once in a lifetime memory of a special day forever gone.
