"Sent another DJ to our wedding?!"

I came across Debbie and thought she would be a great match for DJ-ing our wedding. When I spoke with her, she was so kind and sent a sample of her singing. We thought she could sing some and DJ some -- she has a beautiful voice! We decided to pay her in full ahead of time when we booked the date. All seemed fine until the day before the wedding I called her with the final list of songs. She said she was coming down with a cold and was worried that her voice would be strained. When my husband and I walked into the reception, a very short woman dark haired, who called herself "Debbie" came and introduced herself to us. She looked nothing at all like the Debbie McCollum in the pictures on her CD and on the web. She had her DJ table set up right in the middle of the dance floor (???), did not sing one song the entire night, was late on announcing the evenings events to keep the pace of the wedding. No one was encouraged to dance and the guests sat at their tables all night. She simply played the songs we had requested throughout the night. I was very disappointed. After we left, "Debbie" chased down my mother asking her for the remainder of the payment. Stunned, my mother reminded her that we paid in full. Debbie said she would check her records and get back with her. We have not heard from her since. It gives me chills to think about who really was the DJ at my wedding. Very strange.
