"THE most awful DJ service"

This "DJ" worked my brothers wedding. They started the night out by getting wedding party announcements wrong, completely ignoring the outline they were given. Certainly not a grand entrance. There were NUMEROUS awkward moments of silence where the room went completely silent. He seemed as though he didn't know how to operate his "state of the art" equipment. HUGE lack in his music selection. I have a larger selection than the DJ...at one point there was a "guest DJ" when the DJ connected the equipment to an iPhone to play a song. The quality of songs was poor and not the original artists. Come cake cutting time he took it upon himself to sing along while the first cuts were made. He sang "the groom cuts the cake, the groom cuts the cake...the bride cuts the cake...etc" to the tune of The Farmer In The Dell. Barely anyone danced, and the only positive thing about him all night was when it ws time for him to go home. People commented that he would be better off working as entertainment at a nursing home.

Vendor response: The success of any event always relies on good communication, especially if it's a destination wedding. Although we were contracted in the early spring of 2011, we were unable to communicate directly with the bride until 6 weeks before the wedding. The events coordinator for the hotel handed us an the Events Plan for the reception only minutes before the start of the reception. At the same time the wedding party handed us a second list that did not match what hotel staff were prepared to do. The silence was because no one in the wedding party was prepared for the traditional toast or a blessing before the meal. The bride submitted a playlist of 64 songs for the reception. It was very traditional music and heavy on country. She also requested NO RAP or any suggestive music and most line dances NOT BE PLAYED, therefore, we did not play them even if they were requested. She chose the specialty songs for the events, including the cake cutting sing along. The "guest DJ " was a member of the wedding party and wanted to play a special song for the bride and groom. Please note that we did not take any breaks and played continuously for 5 1/2 hours. May I quote the bride from an e-mail sent to us: "I appreciate the time you guys have put into making my day go smoothly. It helps to know you care." Weddings are all about the bride and what she wants on her special day and never about the brother-in-law. His final comment about A2M being better suited for a nursing home was totally inappropriate and unprofessional. Al and Marilyn, A2M DJs
