"Terribly Disappointing"

To say that my wedding video was very disappointing would be an understatement. We were so excited to get the video. It was the one thing that my friends (if they hadn’t had a videographer) said was their biggest regret. So…we decided to spend the extra money (we bought the upgraded package) for a video that we’d treasure for a lifetime. We looked around at different videographer websites and based on his website plus a few other recommendations, we went with Bruce Barnett. That was a mistake. Here are some of the “highlights”: (1) He did not get a shot of my dad giving me away. Instead, the video shows the back of our guests’ heads. (2) During our vows, he shot close-ups of my husband’s face but all you see of me is the back of the head. (3) He took no outside shots at our reception. (It was a beautiful day and the reception site had absolutely beautiful grounds.) (4) He set up a camera at the reception on the DJ stand and then promptly left it unattended for the majority of the reception. (5) The only shots of our reception came from the stationary camera. (He did not take any shots of individual guests or walk around the reception.) (6) Again, he disappeared for the majority of the reception. (7) When we received the video, we called him and asked if he had anymore footage. (Mind you this was after several attempts on our part to get a hold of him. In addition, my husband – who is much more laid back than I am – did the talking.) We even offered to reedit the video ourselves. He was extremely hostile and said that he had no additional footage but would check. Needlesstosay, we haven’t heard back from him. I would not recommend Bruce Barnett to anyone. In fact, I got married over three months ago but (whether it’s silly or not) I’ve been too upset to write about it until now. We would have been better off if we’d videotaped (or at least set up stationary cameras) ourselves. I would hate if there to be any confusion to whom I’m referring.
