My husband and I are simple people - all we wanted was an officiant to show up the beach, read the ceremony I had written & then leave. I found that several destination wedding companies were not willing to do such a simple ceremony. But Jon Pickler & his wife, of Pickler Weddings, promised me that they knew exactly what I wanted & could provide that for us. Well, the experience with Pickler wedding has left a sour taste in my mouth. The few days leading up to the wedding - I tried to call Jon to verify that he would, in fact, do the ceremony. He never returned my phone calls. As a matter of fact, I finally got in touch with him only 1 day before the wedding, as we were on our way down to Florida from Kentucky. I felt like I was not on the top of his priority list, at all. He then told me that Monday night (the night after we got to Florida) would be fine, as requested. The next day - the wedding day - I didn't hear from Jon again until after 4:30 pm that night. I was so afraid that he wasn't going to show. Well, he did show. We had to go to several different beaches because he didn't drive to any before meeting us to see which ones were packed - but that was ok. Upon our 3rd try, we found a good beach that was private. However - it was a LONG hike. But that was ok too. The ceremony was perfect - he did what he was asked & read the ceremony I wrote. He spoke with my new husband about deep sea fishing & then we paid him & he went on his way, after assuring me that he would turn in our marriage license the next day. After returning home, I was waiting for our marriage license to come in the mail. 2 weeks went by. Nothing. I called Jon Pickler. He didn't answer the phone & never returned my phone calls. I kept calling. Finally, I called the courthouse. 17 days after we were married and they said THEY NEVER GOT OUR MARRIAGE LICENSE. I was LIVID! I called Jon back to back until he FINALLY answered. He said that they must have lost it but that he would take another copy down there first thing in the morning. The next night - I called to confirm that he had taken my marriage license to the courthouse - he said HE STILL HAD NOT DONE IT. At this point I am so mad I could spit bullets. We only had 30 days after the marriage license to complete our insurance papers for my health insurance, and now we won't meet the deadline. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone! Jon is going to ruin the entire company - perhaps his wife should step up and handle the business side. I will never deal with them again & plan on calling the courthouse or police department in the morning to see how I can get my marriage license from this slacker!! DON'T SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU - USE A DIFFERENT COMPANY!!
