"Very Disappointed"

I had my doubts from the beginning about this DJ, but wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt just to save some money. Although his price was right, you definitely get what you pay for. We met twice before the wedding and the second time we met he didn't even remember meeting us before. I went over everything in great detail that we wanted at our reception and he didn't even write anything down. So with my doubts, 3 weeks prior to the wedding, I emailed him a detailed agenda with how we wanted things done (such as order of wedding party being announced and with certain songs). He also supplied a website that you can go on and add "must have" songs and "don't play" songs. Which is a nice feature, however, he didn't use it for his reference. We had enough "must have" songs to last the entire evening and he only played maybe 3 of them. And they were all typical wedding reception songs too, nothing that was off the wall. There was one song specifically that I had added to the "must have" list and asked him about 5 times during the reception to play it and him and his wife kept saying "It's coming in a little bit". Turns out they didn't even have the song! He was slow to transition between songs, leaving people on the dance floor wondering if they should stay. My photographer constantly had to tell him what to do next (which it should be the other way around). He played everything out of order, like after our first dance he played the Electric Slide, like really? The wedding party was supposed to be next. He also played songs like polka (instead of the "must have" chicken dance). Oh, and he was completely unorganized. One would think that before you announce the wedding party he would have made sure they were all ready and available. Well my DJ did not (or his wife either). He just began announcing them, by the time we found every one the song was over and half of the wedding party didn't get to the dance floor. My photographer had to tell them just to pretend for the pictures. So all in all, you get what you pay for. If I could do things over again I would have went with my gut feelings and sucked up a couple hundred dollars more and hired someone who was legit.

"Not very friendly!Would not refer."
Ohio

Matt was very friendly on the phone when we first started planning and I had a very good feeling about him. As the wedding got closer my feeling changed very quickly. Granted I will admit my now husband and i were a little behind on getting the music together as I explained to Matt that he had been working extremely long hours and my sister who was in my wedding party had also been hospitalized due to cancer. It was a very bad time for us. Matt's email responses were very short and rude if ever answered at all. He never addressed any questions we had.His main concern was "don't forget cash only" it seemed his main concern was getting paid, not making our wedding day the best it could be. I was starting to get very nervous that he was even going to show until I was able to reach him by phone the evening prior to our wedding day. He was also late setting up as I was to tell me til recently. He was very rude to our wedding coordiantor and my matron of honor when they were trying to tell him that there was a last minute change in bridal party announcements since one of the groomsmen had to leave suddenly due to an emergency. He told her that I would just have to wait! Mind you the bridal party, myself and husband are waiting in the hall for the intro's. He finally sent his wife out to get the details which I may add was a very nice woman God bless her. Now for the intro music which he screwed up along with announcing the best man and matron of honor twice the second being in the place where the new bride and groom were to be announced. When the fact that themusic was mixed up they did not hesitate to rudely approach us at the bridal table to point out how we were wrong. I dont know about you but one would think that couples intro would mean bridal party and grand entrance would be for the bride and groom????? I am not sure what our coordinators encounter was exactly but she had asked us in a horrified manner if we had talked to our DJ before? In which I reminded her how i told her that he was my biggest wedding worry and he proved it to be true. He also oddly started off the night with a Polka which I did specificly asked for a Polka in honor of my father who is deceased but it was not the right song. He did play his song later but just thought it was rather odd. In the end it turned out just fine but every time I hear the song on the radio that the bridal party was supposed to come out to just reminds me of his rude behavior and makes me regret choosing him for our special day. Below is from his web page. Charm? well he charmed me enough to get my money. High class, not likely, enthusiastic? He was cold and unaproachable. Fun? Vendor response: Ok, There are 2 sides to every story. This client had set her self up for everything that she says that we did. It started with her not wanting to pay her balance in FULL, 2 weeks prior to her event. I made an "Exception" and told her she could pay the evening of, which every time I break a company policy, it comes back to ge me. So really, she didnt trust us from the start ! Please make a "NOTE" as the client says that they had a family Health matter, and were a little behind on getting there music list to us. A little? they were the ones that I thought didnt reply to emails, quite frankly, my wife and myself thought maybe the reception was cancelled, due to no replys. This client wanted us to due the reception, and the Ceremony, and then changed that at the last minute also, and wanted us to due a 6hr reception, in lieu of the ceremony, I'm sorry but 6 hrs for anything is just too long for everyone. This is when I knew we had a "Bridezilla" wack ball. As far as the comment that we were late, that really pisses me off because we have never been late in 28 years, and will never be. Again , very poor planning by the Bride, not to make sure the times were what she wanted. The reason we offer an online planner is to make sure the client gets EXACTLY what they want ! The reason I had said CASH ONLY, was because the Bride wanted to put me in an uncomfortable situation, but paying the nite of. What if she payed by check, and then put a stop payment on it ? That's one reason why we demand payment in full, 2 weeks prior to your event. Again, when you change your policys, or make Exceptions. you get burned. Notice how she says"In the end everything turned out just fine ? She is a very contradicting person. She says she found it odd to start out with a Polka, but then goes on to say she asked for one ? To sum up my side of this review- 1. Never make exception on payment in full 2wks, prior to your event, It put's both parties in an uncomfortable situation= added stress. 2. Client ,must have all music list and details completed 2 weeks prior to their event, in this case, I didnt know if it was still on or off, they never replied in a timely fashion. 3. 1 bad review in 28 years, I know I cant make everyone happy, but WE really due try hard.
