man, i didn't write the review below me, but I wish I did. I was employed by 1st Carolina for a year, and in that time I saw the owner do absolutely everything he could to serve himself at the expense of clients and employees. I will admit that for a hackneyed wedding DJ he is relatively talented, and he has employed some of NC's best creative-minded and professional DJ in the past (I won't name names, but their are a lot of guys I have a lot of respect for as performers and friends) I would suggest that you do business with 1st Carolina under no circumstances. And I say this while they still owe me a sizable amount of money. I would like for them to find the money to pay me, but I would like even more no one else to be put through the hell of dealing with this company

don't ever do business with this lowlife bastard! he doesn't even pay his own people- and when he does, he bounces checks on them. he also has civil judgements against him in the city of greensboro. he's a real creep.

I had never hired a DJ before and looked at the gigmaster's site, due to being secured. I taked to Kyle Sandler and we set a time of 8pm-12pm on March 23rd, 2009 for the party. I sent $300 and directions to my home, we have a problem with navigational systems going on old bad back roads because they are shorter, and I called Kyle a fews days later to see of he had received them. He was greatful and thanked me for them. The night of the party, I received a call at 8pm stating they were not coming to the party due to the road conditions! I had a heart attack! Everyone was here and my son was so excited about his party. They had forgotten the directions I had sent, and would NOT let me come and get them in the main road. They did not want to come out to the "boonies" again! I begged while I was trying to hide from everyone and cried for an hour! We have a beautiful home and there is a main road to get here!!! I sent directions. They ruined the party and made me feel terrible! I talked to kyle march 24th, he agreed it was not right ( so he said! ) and he was putting my deposit in the mail on the Tuesday after. This is June and I have seen nothing. They are not trustworthy at all and have NO respect for the clients! Gigmasters has contacted me a couple of times, but I have not seen any results form them either. That was my son's present to him. I would love to at least be able to give him the money as a present.

I don't think you could find a worse DJ if you tried. This DJ has AN "F" rating with the BBB. I could write a lengthy post about why to avoid this DJ but I will try to keep it as short as possible: We booked this DJ, Kyle Sandler, for a wedding almost a year in advance and paid him the deposit plus extra money - $450 in total. A couple of months before the wedding, Kyle emailed to say he was no longer interested in doing the event and that we should find another DJ. He promised to refund all of our money for breaking the contract. We were annoyed that he wanted to cancel (the reason boiled down to he didn't like a guest invited to the wedding because she had given him a negative review in the past) but we figured it's was better to find someone else more reliable in any case. Well, we found another DJ but never heard from Kyle again - he never returned one cent of our money - even though he was the one who had broken the contract! We had to file a civil suit against him to try to recoup the money - can you imagine!? hiring a DJ for your wedding and having it come to this?! Kyle never even showed up to court. Do your research: In addition to the "F" BBB rating, I found out from the courts in Greensboro that several other people have sued him. I also found out from other Greensboro DJs that they won't subcontract for Kyle anymore (he is on his own) because of poor business practices. I also have read some reviews on other sites (see weddingwire) that he showed up late to weddings without apology or any refund. One word: BEWARE!!

My wedding was in April. I hired them back in September thinking they would be very professional. I was very wrong. It started with the phone call meeting we were supposed to have, I cleared my schedule that morning to talk about what we wanted for the wedding and nobody ever called. Finally the next day I called them and they were like "Oh our phones were messed up we should have called to tell you but we never wrote it down." That should have been my first clue. Finally we rescheduled and I emailed him the lists a month in advance with all of the songs we wanted. He looked them over and we talked about them. THEN, the DAY before the wedding when we are getting stuff together I get an email saying they never received my song information and that if they didn't have it by 3 pm they would just wing it. I called and he instantly remember our phone conversation but had no record. Luckily I had the email in my sent folder and was able to get it to him. The day of the wedding came and they were late having my coordinator running around looking for cds. They finally showed up just in time and as I was about to walk down the aisle there was a loud POP in the music that everybody heard. THen I was waiting to enter my reception and they inform me they don't have the song I asked to walk in to. I just tell them to play anything because at this point I am pissed and then they finally found it. I wanted them to make annoucements and be really involved with my party but they were too busy drinking the free beer and flirting with my girlfriends. These are not the people you want to hire for your wedding. I hope I can help save your reception!
