"Fraud"

I hired Claudia for full service wedding planning. I had checked her out online, and she seemed to have many positive reviews and few negatives. She took a deposit of half her overall fee, and did absolutely nothing to earn it. She was slow, made up excuses, LIED, and caused me and my fiance much grief. Everything you do NOT want to feel while planning your wedding. The only thing she did was finalize my venue contract which was mostly complete before I hired her, and make cake and dress appointments which I could not use because she didn't book the ones I asked for. Then she stopped returning my calls and emails. I even had to threaten to sue her for my deposit to get any response from her. In the end, she gave me half back, but still kept almost 700 dollars to herself. I was just too tired and fed up to ask for anything more, but she didn't earn a penny. She even charged me to mail my refund check with a tracking number. This woman is a fraud - and after talking with other planners, her reputation is VERY poor in the wedding planning industry. When asking one why she had so many good reviews online, I was informed that it's so easy to create a profile and write a review, and that many vendors will do that to create the illusion or reputation they need to attract business. That probably explains it. I just hope this review prevents brides from going through what I went through.

"HORRIBLE WEDDING PLANNING"
Houston, TX
November 13, 2010

Brides: please let this be a warning to you if you are planning on hiring this company. One of my best friends recently got married. She hired "A Day To Remember" initially as her florist, but throughout the course of wedding planning, Claudia offered her wedding planning services for her. At that point in her wedding planning, my friend had already done most of the wedding planning herself. This included making by hand all of her programs, placecards, invitations, and favors. She decided that it would be helpful to have someone to be a wedding coordinator to help her prior to the wedding and then also on the day of the wedding. 1. Meetings prior to the wedding: there were many meetings with vendors prior to the wedding. Most of which, Claudia arrived LATE. This is UNACCEPTABLE if you are hired to be a wedding COORDINATOR. There were also many times in which my friend emailed Claudia and would not hear a response for days, so she ended up taking care of things herself. Again, this is UNACCEPTABLE to not reply to emails in a timely fashion if you are HIRED to be the wedding coordinator. 2. Flowers: keep in my mind, my friend hired Claudia initially for her flowers. For the bouquet for her bridal shoot, the flowers were beautiful. Let's just say the bouqets on the day of the wedding were much much smaller and definitely not what my friend had envisioned for her wedding party. She had specified what types of flowers she wanted for the MOH and for the BM, which included freesias, and all the bouquets were small and only contained roses, in different colors than what were discussed and they were half WILTING by the time they arrived. If your main job is a FLORIST, you should have FRESH flowers. 3. Rehearsal: Claudia arrived LATE. This goes back to #1. 4. Wedding Ceremony: Claudia seemed very clueless for many parts of the day. This included the flower girl basket . She seemed to have no idea where the basket was, what was supposed to go in the basket (umm, flowers?!). Granted the church didn't allow the flower girls to throw flowers onto the ground, but they could've at least had flowers INSIDE the basket.. the flower girl ended up carrying the basket with nothing inside of it down the aisle. 5. Reception: this is where things go from bad to worse. There was supposed to be a cupcakes/candy station. My friend wanted the cupcakes to be picked up on the day of to maintain freshness. Claudia kept saying she could handle it (which is what we think is the problem, that she takes on WAY MORE than she can handle), so being that Claudia was hired as the WEDDING COORDINATOR, my friend let her take care of it (bad idea). So things were running late with bridal party pictures. The reception cocktail hour was supposed to start at 6:30pm and the reception at 7pm. We arrive around that time to see that Claudia and her "team" are STILL WORKING ON CENTERPIECES. We find out that there was traffic, so Claudia was late in arriving with the cupcakes, and hence delayed everything else being done. It is now close to 7PM, guests are antsy to come into the reception, and there are still TWO centerpieces to be finished! This is UNACCEPTABLE. There are NO PENS for the guestbook (Claudia was supposed to get them, or there was probably some miscommunication). Also, my friend and the rest of the bridal party had spent a lot of time organizing the placecards into alphabetical order, including dividing them up with carefully laid tissue paper in between the letters. When we arrived, guess what? Somehow, all of the cards were now disorganized, in seemingly no order. How did it happen going from the hands of the bride to the hands of the "coordinator"? We spent more than half an hour trying to reorganize the names in the correct order while the guests were at the door waiting for us. Where was the "coordinator" during this time? Oh yes, finishing up those centerpieces that should have been. 6. Post wedding: So my friend thought, after the reception was over, she should just be able to leave, you know, with her new husband and all. After all, she had hired Claudia to take care of everything, right? First, she gets a call from the reception hall saying that they were not happy with the wedding coordinator at all. The place was a mess afterwards, and by the way, did my friend leave behind the cake table (yes, the kind that needs to be returned otherwise she will get charged for it), they had one at the reception hall and did not know who it belonged to. This was something that Claudia the "wedding coordinator" should have checked, but obviously and not surprisingly she did not. Also, the caterers left behind the cake topper and food that was packed specifically for the bride and groom in the kitchen. This was not discovered until the next day, and of course by that time, the cake and the food were all bad, so had to be thrown out. Save ur $ and dont hire them. COORDINATORS shouldn't be Perpetually LATE & DISORGANIZED.
