We hired Sound-a-Bout DJ for our daughter's wedding which was on October 3rd at Lakewold Gardens. Our first meeting with owner DeWayne Campbell was impressive. He was very organized and provided us with a comprehensive information packet and contract; in addition, his fee was very competitive. DeWayne has years of experience and is very familiar with the demanding and unyielding event time frame at Lakewold Gardens. He was on time for our event but there were two incidents where we were not happy with his performance at our event. Our daughter and her husband "to be" planned on their recessional from the ceremony tent to a choreagraphed exit (with their bridal party) to music DeWayne was to play as they danced down the aisle (weeks of practice by the way). They had a classical trio perform before and during the ceremony and DeWayne was to then play a song our daughter and her new husband had chosen..my daughter confirmed this by phone with DeWayne days before the wedding. For reasons still unknown, DeWayne forgot to play the song and the newlyweds left the tent (along with 180 guests) to dead silence..almost 20 minutes of time to at least get some music going, but he did nothing. DeWayne did not recieve an updated timeline from our "day of" wedding coordinator but with his years of experience, one would think that some quick thinking and problem solving would have been in order. I would also like to mention that the "day of" wedding coordinator (Terese' Lemoine of "Truly Eventful)" was terribly unorganized and did not fulfill any of the duties she was contracted to do and there is no question that the miscommunication between DeWayne and her led to this very sad outcome for my daughter and her husband. I mention her name because we found her on DeWayne's website where she is listed as a preferred vendor he recommded. The majority of other vendors recommended on DeWayne's website are exceptional and he has a long history of working with some of the most reputable wedding vendors in the area. Terese' Lemoine however was a terrible disappontment and unfortunately we trusted DeWayne's recommendation; they had worked together at other events so why this happened is anyone's guess...neither DeWayne or Terese' had a reasonable explanation for the huge oversight. The other faux pas was DeWayne introduced the newlyweds not by their first names as requested, but introduced them as Mr. and Mrs. then proceeded to mispronounce her husband's last name (our daughter kept her maiden name)...she was not happy. In closing, we wanted this to be a fair and objective review of Sound-a-Bout DJ...he clearly has lots of experience and is really a nice guy, but we would advise any prospective client to stay in touch with him on a regular basis as your event nears and we just simply cannot recommend Terese' Lemoine who he has listed as a preferred vendor on his website. Before hiring any vendor, do your homework!!
