"Company Holiday Party"

The letter below is what I sent to Tara at A Silverware Affair. Prior to the event I received multiple emails and phone calls. Once they were paid and the even was over, I was not given a follow-up call or email to ask how the event went. To put it mildly, we were very disappointed and would not recommend them to anyone who wants quality service. Dear Tara, A Silverware Affair provided catering service on December 16, 2010 for our company’s holiday party. I would like to first express that the food station decor was aesthetically pleasing, there was an abundance of food and the carving station was a hit; but those were the only compliments I am able to provide based upon what I experienced and the feedback I received from the employees at the party. During the quoting phase, it would have been helpful to know that there would not be cooking onsite; and that all items provided would be prepared offsite and transferred to our facility for the event. I am also disappointed that the catering team arrived so late that they were still setting up the food stations when the party began, even though the start time was clearly delineated in the contract. The food that was provided was burned in spots (specifically the chicken fingers) and it was apparent that much of the food was reheated (empanadas). There was a great deal of food, but it was not as palatable as promised. To my and many of our employees’ dismay, we were left eating cheese, crackers and desserts while much of the pre-cooked food was tossed and wasted. Based upon this experience, I would not recommend using A Silverware Affair again and I must say that I’m not surprised that you did not follow up to inquire how we liked the catering since the dissatisfaction was probably visible to your staff.
