John Piro saved the day! On 4 days notice John came up with a fantastic Chef and Waitstaff along with great ideas which made for a carefree and enjoyable party. I can't remember the last party we threw that we actually had a good time. My wife and I are both control freaks and John the Chef (not John Piro) and Amy the waitress took over and got every thing done without a hitch. We have a Summer House on a Lake with 80+ steps to the house and the dinner was served at the lakefront. Cooking was performed up at the house and they scaled the stairs with ease. John Piro actually came and supervised dinner and pitched in with all the other chores. Kudos to John and his staff. Much thanks.

Every event has it's particulars & every client has their own expectations. I have provided service to the demanding affluent clientle Fairfield County CT for 20 years. I'm sure the Decidio readers understand there are all types of people and some are just not possible to please & every situation has its own set of challenges. 75% of the events we service have 1-3 staff. Therefore "1/2 were late" was most likely 1 person. Every situation is different. Our staff is picking up where the client leaves off. Many times we are understaffed and is difficult to provide the level of service a client expects when we have 1 hand tied behind our back. Our chefs are either culinary trained, work(ed) in restaurant kitchens, or are chefs in their own right. We staff a function based on the information provided by the client. It's critical to be clear on the tasks needed to be performed. Is it realistic for one person in the kitchen to handle 40-60 guests - esp when their is piece work to be done?? Many clients under staff simply because they did their last party "all by themself" however they fail to understand the difference when staff comes in to provide a service. Their expectations change. The IRS does not allow a staffing service to provide "uniforms" per se unless the staff are employed by the organization. If employed a service would be providing individuals who are willing to work for $12-$14/Hr. The level of person who works with "CHEERS" are professional people who know their value and expects to earn (with Gratuity) $30 to $50+/Hr. That being said - not everyone is a "CHEERS" client. "CHEERS" Butlers would like to be perfect however "perfect" is not possible given the logistics and personalities involved with events "catered" by the client. Many times this is done to cut costs and other times the client prefers to do the cooking themselves. "Sarah Smith" who lives in affluent New Canaan, CT would most likely have been happier if she elected to have "CHEERS" cater her event. This would have given us more control of the logistics of her function. Little did she know but "CHEERS" offers a "Cost Plus Labor" formula for calculating its menu rate to its clients therefore lowering their menu costs by 30-40%! Go to Chefs-Bartenders-WaitStaff dot com and learn how you can have as much control over the costs of your event yet still have it catered. I do talk a good game because I know my business. I also know anyone who writes a negative review on a service should state their real name. ("CHEERS" does not have a "Sarah Smith" on its client list.) I hired John Piro to "cater" my event and the people he sent were all over the place. Half showed up late or without the right uniform and there was near anarchy in the kitchen. He talks a good game, but he didn't deliver. I should have hired an actual caterer!
