Meet with more than one Officiant or Justice of the Peace to find the one that you feel most comfortable with. Ask whether the Officiant will allow you to write you own vows, if you will get a chance to read or hear your ceremony before the day of the event, and whether the price is inclusive (travel, time, and script writing). Everything should be laid out from the beginning and agreed upon.
